Postpartum healing begins in the kitchen. The food you eat after giving birth does so much more than fill your belly—it strengthens your tissues, stabilizes your hormones, nourishes your milk supply, and uplifts your mood.

In Ayurveda, postpartum is seen as a vata time, where warmth, softness, and simplicity are essential. Meals should be warm, easy to digest, and made with love. Think: brothy soups, spiced stews, soft grains, and cooked fruits.

Here’s how to begin healing through food:

  • Favor warm, moist meals over cold or raw foods, which can be hard on digestion.

  • Use healing spices like cumin, ginger, fennel, and turmeric to reduce inflammation and support gut health.

  • Cook with ghee for its nourishing and lubricating properties.

  • Plan ahead so you're not scrambling at mealtime—have a few staples prepped or prepped-for-you (yes, I can help with that!).

Feeding yourself well isn’t just about recovery—it’s about feeling strong, stable, and cared for. And when you're well-fed, your whole family feels the ripple effects.
